Byron's housing stock skews newer than a lot of the area we cover - the median build year here runs around 1998, a good two decades past the 1978 median for the wider service territory. That matters for an off-track call. A door that's been on its original rollers and track since a late-90s build has had twenty-plus years of use on hardware that was builder-grade to begin with, not upgraded. The track brackets are usually still the stock ones, fastened with the shorter lag screws builders used before heavier jamb brackets became standard. On a door that age, the track hasn't necessarily been touched since the house was framed, which means when a roller finally jumps the rail, it's often because the bracket itself has worked loose over two decades of vibration, not because something dramatic happened. We come out from Holland, about 19 miles, to look at exactly that kind of wear before we touch a cable or a spring.
